  • Veritaseum Token Tutorial

In order to use anything on the Ethereum network a person needs to have an Ethereum account. The easiest way to do this, is with MyEtherWallet

  • Generate an Ethereum Account

  • Step 1

Click on Generate Wallet and enter a good password. You will always be able to regenerate the same account from the same password.

Click download and save the json file BUT keep this file safe and private. Any person who gets their hands on this file can now access your account, so store it safely.

Open the file and look at ciphertext. This value is your private key. This private key is the part that MUST be kept secret.

Copy this ciphertext/private key into memory and go to the View Wallet Info tab at the top of the page.

Select the Private Key radio button and paste your private key into the box. Click Unlock.

Now you can access your Ethereum account! It is here that you will find your Ethereum address, view the balance that this account has in it, view any tokens that it has, and other interesting things also.

  • Get Ether

As you can see, new accounts do not hold any Ether and you will have to get some.

Click on the Swap tab at the top of the page to exchange your bitcoins for Ether. Alternatively you may use ShapeShift. Be aware that this method is more expensive than sourcing Eth of exchanging it through an established token exchange, ie. Poloniex or Coinbase.

Exchange for VERI Tokens

Once you have some Ether, you are ready to exchange those Ether for Veritaseum Tokens!  One VERI Token costs 0.03333333333 Ether, so for one Ether you get 30 VERI Tokens!

The ICO crowdfunding stage is from 2017 April 25th 9:30 EST (14:30 UTC) and lasts for 31 days. There is even a 20% discount for tokens purchased on day one (after the start), a 10% discount for tokens purchased on day two (after the start), and every consecutive day the discounted rate will reduce by 1% per day until the normal price is reached (day 12)!

The VeritaseumToken smart contract is an Ethereum ERC20 compliant token, which means that you can exchange VERI tokens on any Ethereum based exchange.

Very Important Note: By continuing past this point and purchasing Veritas tokens, you are hereby acknowledging that you have read, understood and accepted both the Veritas Product Purchase Agreementand the Terms & Conditions of the Veritaseum 2017 Veritas Sale..

The address of the VeritaseumToken is at: 0x8f3470a7388c05ee4e7af3d01d8c722b0ff52374

The source code of the VeritaseumToken can be found at: https://github.com/RFVenter/Veritaseum/blob/master/contracts/VeritaseumToken.sol

To purchase VERI tokens during the ICO phase you will have to use another smart contract which has been designed to sell tokens at the correct price during this time.

Very Important Note: By continuing past this point and purchasing Veritas tokens, you are hereby acknowledging that you have read, understood and accepted both the Veritas Product Purchase Agreementand the Terms & Conditions of the Veritaseum 2017 Veritas Sale..

The address of the TokenPurchase is at: 0x599a4b8188676224d4c9b393b947e332b60b15e3

The source code of the TokenPurchase can be found at:

https://github.com/RFVenter/Veritaseum/blob/master/contracts/TokenPurchase.sol

To purchase Veritas, go to the “Contracts” menu in MyEtherWallet as shown below.

Set the selections as shown below...

Click on the Interact with Contract tab at the top of the page. Enter Contract address 0x599a4b8188676224d4c9b393b947e332b60b15e3.

Copy and paste the TokenPurchase ABI code from the box below:

[{"constant":false,"inputs":[],"name":"purchaseTokens","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"uint256"}],"payable":true,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"startTime","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"uint256"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"closeTime","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"uint256"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"owner","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"address"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"price","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"uint256"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"}]

If the site asks you again, then enter your private key again and Unlock.

Click WRITE

To exchange Ether for VERI tokens you simply have to send the amount of Ether you wish to convert to VERI tokens, to the TokenPurchase smart contract. The smart contract will automatically allocate your tokens to your Ethereum address.

Increase the Gas Limit to about 80,000 and Click Generate Transaction

Congratulations, you now have VERI tokens!

Next you will want to go to your Ethereum account and see your VERI tokens. Click on the View Wallet Info tab and enter your private key again, if the site asks you for it.

Click Add Custom Token and enter the address (0x8f3470a7388c05ee4e7af3d01d8c722b0ff52374) of VeritaseumToken into the Address box, VERI into the Token Symbol box, and 18 into the Decimals box and Save

You will now be able to see VERI tokens for any and each Ethereum account that you may have.

  • Use VeritaseumToken smart contract and Tokens

Once you have Veritaseum Tokens you can do several things with it. Since this is an ERC20 compliant token you can basically exchange VERI tokens on any Ethereum exchange, and there are several. You can exchange them for other tokens, or sell them back to Ether at a later stage.

To use them on MyEtherWallet, click on Send Ether & Tokens tab. Enter your private key and Unlock.

Now, enter the address (0x8f3470a7388c05ee4e7af3d01d8c722b0ff52374) of VeritaseumToken into the Contract Address box.

Copy and paste the VeritaseumToken ABI code from the box below.

click Access

[{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"name","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"string"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":false,"inputs":[{"name":"_spender","type":"address"},{"name":"_value","type":"uint256"}],"name":"approve","outputs":[{"name":"success","type":"bool"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"totalSupply","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"uint256"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":false,"inputs":[{"name":"_from","type":"address"},{"name":"_to","type":"address"},{"name":"_value","type":"uint256"}],"name":"transferFrom","outputs":[{"name":"success","type":"bool"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"decimals","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"uint256"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[{"name":"_owner","type":"address"}],"name":"balanceOf","outputs":[{"name":"balance","type":"uint256"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"owner","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"address"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[],"name":"symbol","outputs":[{"name":"","type":"string"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":false,"inputs":[{"name":"_to","type":"address"},{"name":"_value","type":"uint256"}],"name":"transfer","outputs":[{"name":"success","type":"bool"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"constant":true,"inputs":[{"name":"_owner","type":"address"},{"name":"_spender","type":"address"}],"name":"allowance","outputs":[{"name":"remaining","type":"uint256"}],"payable":false,"type":"function"},{"inputs":[],"payable":false,"type":"constructor"},{"anonymous":false,"inputs":[{"indexed":true,"name":"from","type":"address"},{"indexed":true,"name":"to","type":"address"},{"indexed":false,"name":"value","type":"uint256"}],"name":"Transfer","type":"event"},{"anonymous":false,"inputs":[{"indexed":true,"name":"owner","type":"address"},{"indexed":true,"name":"spender","type":"address"},{"indexed":false,"name":"value","type":"uint256"}],"name":"Approval","type":"event"}]

Now you can access all the public functions that this smart contract has. For more information about ERC20 compliant Tokens goto to ERC20

If you select price you can see that it has a lot of digits. Ethereum has high precision and uses 18 decimal standard precision.

The cost of this token is 0.033,333,333,333,333,333 Ether per one token. OR 1 Ether is 30 tokens.

The function shows you how many tokens your account has.

This function allows you to transfer your tokens to another Ethereum address, like your friends.

  • Conclusion

Using Veritaseum Tokens are fun and easy. If you need more information about Ethereum Tokens, just Google it.

I have a computer science degree and I've been a software developer for several years and these instructions are somewhat lacking not to mention confusing.

The method described here will work but it's not the way myetherwallet.com was designed to be used.

The CipherText in the UTC file is the ENCRYPTED private key and was not intended to be used as the private key to be copy and pasted into the web wallet.
The reason this works is that the encrypted private key just so happens to be a completely valid ethereum private key.

However, if you were to upload your UTC file and enter your password that would generate an UNENCRYPTED private key which is different from the private key you copied from the UTC file. This would be a completely different wallet!!

And if you didn't realize this you might be quite alarmed and think you don't have access to your Veritas tokens when all you have to do is use the ENCRYPTED private key to access your wallet.

So to make a long story short the instructions technically work, but it serves no purpose to store the password you created and may end up confusing people like it did me at first.

Just hoping to clear things up for anyone else. I'm still learning like everybody else.

    Good Luck!

    @François-Guillaume RIDEAU

I feel the need to dispel multiple misconceptions in your comment. See below…

What is the ICO pricing ?
Veritas is priced at 0.033 eth, with a sliding discount scale.

51Million VER issued out of 100Million? is it an auction ?
Yes, that is the amount, and it is not an auction. It is a software sale.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By5WJsM3KjltWTNGbUp6d19lXzA/view
in the Veritaseum token tutorial it says that "One VERI Token costs 0.0333 Ether. so for one Ether you get 30 VERI Tokens!". i see nowhere else mention on this price. How do we know for sure this is going to be the exchange rate ? when submitting the sale through ETH wallet
The tutorial gives you the price, and it als gives you the smart contract address, which gives you the exchange rate pricing. There is also a link to the github where the contract code s stored, so you can actually review the code yourself if you desire.

BTW, based on a ETH token price of 50 USD, that means the valuation of VER is 100 * 50 / 30 = 166M USD. and that you are trying to sell 51% of it, around 85M USD.
You cannot value the software in such a linear and simplistic fashion. This is not a stock or securities sale and you cannot take the pricing of Veritas available for sale and extrapolate it to the total in existence to come with what looks like to some would be an enterprise value. Again, we are selling software, not securities. Think of attempting to “value” Microsoft Excel by using this simplistic formula. In 2010, Microsoft alleged that a billion copies of Office installed across the globe. With an average price of $150, that would value just the installed base at $150 billion, but what you are doing distorts this number further. You are applying that sales multiple to unsold copies of the software. Thus if MSFT planned on selling another billion copies of Office, you are literally extrapolating that number to say that MSFT is worth $300 billion on just its office software - ignoring its arguably larger Windows, licensing, cloud and other franchises. Adding just some of those in, you get an even larger number for Windows, say $400 billion, servers and software, $300 billion, cloud services and other, $250 billion. Add this up, and you get $1.25 trillion for a company (derived solely from guessing what software may be sold in the future and attempting to place an equity-like value on it) with a market cap of about $529 billion today. I go through this exercise in an attempt to illustrate the futility of trying to extrapolate software sales into some type of equity valuation. To be clear and to reiterate once again, we are selling software, not securities!

Excuse me, but thats a very bubbly valuation for a "token", not even shares, so with very vague rights, for a software product which doesn't exist anywhere else than a beta version, so effectively 0 paying customers. How many lines of codes ? is it on GitHub ?
Once again, it is not a valuation, it’s a price for software. There are no rights other than the right to access software that has yet to be completed or ported, and to redeem for our analytical services. These rights are definitively not that of those who would buy and hold securities, and Veritas is not being sold nor marketed as such.
Lines of code have nothing to do with the value of the project, but we have many, many thousands - 5 people have been working on this for 3.5 years. Our GitHub is available by search for Veritaseum, but the repositories are private.

Some tokens for "decentralized prediction markets" have a higher valuation of that, but thats because of market speculation. They weren't able to sell that much in the ICO... Actually GNOSIS ICO is going on (at a crazy valuation) but they're selling only 10-20M at a time....
Those figures are irrelevant. The amount of software that we are making available is to sate demand for years, not for a short term pop. You are, again, attempting to look at this as an IPO-like transaction, and not a software sale. If you were to actually attempt to value these projects, you should be factoring in IP ownership, IP protection and patents/patents pending, existing codebase, the team, addressable market, etc. Instead, it appears as if you are trying to extrapolate token prices. There is a distinct difference between price and value, alas I’m drifting off topic since the premise of this entire communication is that we are selling software.
Because we are allowing the buyers of our software to resell the software at will (just as you can a Microsoft Excel product), there will be fluctuations in price that are outside of our control. What has happened in many historical instances was the purposeful restriction of supply to squeeze the perception of demand, causing 3rd party transactions to see a strong pop in price (not necessarily value). This is a trick that has been used in many tech company IPOs, to reward early speculators - resulting in very volatile trading and unstable prices until additional supply has been added to the market reference Risk in Low-Float Stocks - Global Economic Intersection
and Asset Float and Speculative Bubbles - Princeton University. This also goes very far in confusing and blurring the line regarding what is being offered (in regards to the ICO sales).
Since we are planning for the long term and are not dealing with securities (or investments), we are not taking this path.

btw, i see no buzz at all in reddit/ethtrader which gives some temperature of ICOs, i see also that as worrying.
While we will happily take, and will pursue, the interest of those on Reddit and Ethtrader, we are aiming our resources at developing the interest of buyside Wall Street institutions - hence the need for ample supply to sate the need of the world’s largest consumers of capital services should that need be successfully stimulated.

I think you're being too greedy here. Good luck though to you. and especially to the investors, they need even more luck than you.

@Eric The purchase instructions as presented here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n94NIDg_QIxWW4LcDC46VMNqt-h_c4VPMcOCn9BCsUE/pub

Get MyetherWallet (if you are not thoroughly experienced in Ethereum).

Fund with Ether. If you do not have Ether, you can swap Bitcoin for Ether using the "Swap" facility of the wallet. This is relatively expensive as compared to trading BTC for ETH in an exchange such as Poloniex or Coinbase, through. The utility is there for convenience or if you don't have an exchange account.

On 25th, at 9:30 AM, you can swap/purchase Veri tokens by sending in ETH to the Veritas Purchase Smart contract as described here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n94NIDg_QIxWW4LcDC46VMNqt-h_c4VPMcOCn9BCsUE/pub . USing MyEtherWallet.com is easiest. DO NOT use Shapeshift.io for if you send ETH fom there the VERI tokens will be sent to Shapeshift.io, not to you. You must own, possess and control the wallet that you send your ETH from and interact with our smart contracts from.

Veri tokens are Veritaseum's internal programmable tokens needed for it's smart contracts,, financial machines and advisory services.

You cannot use VERI tokens to for buying/selling goods locally or internationally since it is not a fungible currency (or at least that is not what we are selling it as). We are selling it as keys to our Fintech solutions and advisory services. You can freely trade VERI tokens on any exchange that may list them and/or freely trade them with other individuals and entities - and you can trade them for whatever said party is willing to give you inreturn, but alas, that is not what we are selling them for or selling them as.
    Buy Ether or Bitcoin
    Swap for Veri
    Do trade contract
Swap back to Ether or Bitcoin
    Convert to local currency
